So, I've been with my boyfriend for almost 2 years now and I really love him. Well, his birthday is coming up and since it's going to be June and I don't really have a lot of money to spend, I want to surprise him by taking him to the beach and having a nice romantic picnic. I was just wondering if anyone could give me any ideas for what kind of food to take on this picnic? I don't just want to take plain old sandwiches and chips, etc. I want something different, he likes to eat and will eat pretty much anything so any ideas are helpful!

Go to your local library and head for the cookery section, find Jamie Oliver and get reading, this will give you some ideas. In the mean time what about, some Scotch eggs, Sausage rolls, little cooked sausages, a small selection of sliced meat (ones where you can buy a couple of slices at the Deli counter in Tescos etc. Cubes of cheese, a variety of pre packed cheese, quailed eggs boiled, Fresh fruit salad consisting of strawberries, grapes, pineapple and melon. Small slices of fruit cake, little buns (one with icing on and handy to put a candle in to sing happy birthday to - don't forget the matches.) Non alcoholic drinks. Don't forget a rubbish bag, hand wipes and most of all a camera. Whatever the weather make the most of it because your idea is fantastic and enjoy the day as it comes. Good luck

SSS. agony auntaaw that's so cute!

i doubt he'll care what the food tastes like.

but defintely make a nice cake, like a sponge with jam or buy one if that's not your forte.

some berries would look nice with it.

strawberries/ blackberries/ raspberries.

maybe a nice bottle of wine or lemonade.

depends how hungry you are.. a salad and maybe some baguettes would look nice, but it isn't very filling.

if you can't think of anything, just go with his favourite foods [:

Laura1318 agony auntIf there is still love and romance between you two, just plain water and plain white bread would also be tasty and delicious...LOL!

Food isn't a problem. I am sure you know him better and knows what he likes to eat. Don't have to be expensive food. Maybe you can whip up something from your culinary skills.

Hey! Even sandwiches can be very tasty when it is made specially by your own hands.

Put on your special swim suit and gives plenty of kisses and hugs to the birthday boy.

You will have so much fun on the beach and he will be famished and will gobble up anything that is placed before him..LOL!
