Hi,

This is a bit of an embarrasing problem, but I need help on how to get Thrush banished from my life!

I get frequent bouts of it... My sexual health is okay ive been checked out.. I just seem to get rid of thrush and then a week later get it back, ive tried different underwear, different soap, even used natural yogurt, it seem to put it at bay, but what happens is that i dont so much get the itching but the white discharge... Every time i think i have got rid of it, it comes back.. there isnt really a smell, or itching all the time although some bouts there are, but its this white discharge... i have seen the doc and they say its just thrush, could it be that i have an unusually white discharge ? I find this so embarrasing sometimes and i always treat the thrush especially when i get the itching, but it never seems to go... as anyone got any ideas to alleviate this problem ?

Thanks..

Hi i don't know if you have tried this before. But it is certainly worth giving it a go. Go to your local health shop or chemist and get some accidophilus, this helps restore the natural flora in your digestive tract and vagina, take this continuously not just when you've got thrush, this should really help. And definantly steer clear of foods high in sugar, and soaps and washes (just stick to water or maybe Ego QV wash or Alpha Keri Oil) as these really do seem to make thrush worse. I'm not sure if you have been checked but maybe get your doctor to test you for diabetes just to be on the safe side. I really hope this helps. Goodluck

Thanks guys for your answers... looks like i will have to avoid all that choclate then and cut down on the sugar in my tea!! Not sure about the colon cleansing but can see how that would work.... so may give that a go.... Have tried the canesten duo, works and then 2 weeks later i get it back... so will just have to try the other suggestions and see what works!

Thanks

Hi there.

I can completely relate to this as I have just the same problem! If I leave it untreated it will take weeks to clear up on its own, but with treatment its only a matter of days. I'm 22 and seem to get it every single time I have sex. My libedo is completely down becuase of it and my poor partner thinks its something to do with him. My doctor say that sugar has a lot to do with it.

I have a terrible diet, and my suger intake is pretty high. Recently, after advice from my doctor, I have tried very hard to just eat less suger. Another suggestion was to keep my bread in the freezer, killing the yeast in it. And now, I have been a month without thrush - for the first time in 4 years.

Best of luck, I know how just how you feel, and know how inconvienient and uncomfortable this problem is.

bonym agony auntContrary to popular belief thrush occurs when us women can become over zealous with trying to keep down there clean and fresh and its not about being unhygenic as some silly people have said to me. When you shower or bathe, dont use soap or feminal wash, water will clean the area and add a drop of dettol to your bath to kill germs, Even perfume free soap is not good, and various other products. You could try Canestan Duo, that is really good or try a pessary but perhaps its best seeing your GP if it keeps recurring just to make sure that you dont have an underlying non sexually related problem. Try not to wear tight clothing i.e tight jeans and if possible its best not to sleep in underwear so you can breathe.

Thrush or candida spores stay alive in underwear so when you put back on washed knickers the spores start to irritate again so you need to wash your underwear on a 60% wash to kill the germs only be careful they dont shrink!!

Take care. xXx

I had the same problem, I did 2 things at the same time and it went away (for 8 months now). So I;m not sure which one (or both) of these suggestions was the key...here goes. First I did this colon cleansing program (www.colonix.com) which flushes out bad bacteria (and the candida organism that causes thrush) from your digestive tract. Candida is often found in large amounts in the digestive system. Also I cut out almost all breads, carbs, ALCOHOL, and sugars from my diet for 3 months. It never came back, and I had this for YEARS. Hope this helps!!
