How can I get to know him and become his friend?

hi guys im 15 and well im really shy around anybody... i grew up with only one friend because i went to this private school that only had 19 students from kindergarten to grade 12 and this year i just moved into a new town and my new school has 900 students in it from grades 8 to 12 and im kinda freaking out... anyways theres this guy in my class and i kinda like him and i think he does to because whenever i turn around he's usually looking at me and gives me a smile... i realy want to get to know him but i dont know how, whenever we talk its usually about school work and its only for a few minutes... how can i get to know him and become friends with him?

hi just ask him about himself to get to know more about him and see if he asks anything about you if he does then he likes you see what you have in common, then tell him how you feel about him and see what he says in response as if he is interested he will tell you
