How can I get my boyfriend to trust me again!!

Question - (5 March 2007) 2 Answers - (Newest, 5 March 2007)
A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

How can I gain his trust back? It''s almost the end of our first year at college and I've been with my bf for two years this month. I've lied about petty things in the past that have come around and caused big fights between us because I couldn't keep them bottled up. We got through them but he's bringing them all up again because I've become really close with a friend at school that he hates. I really get along great with my friend but my bf is convinced its something more. I would never cheat on him though! I've given him reason to be suspicious after lying about hanging out with him and being vague when I do talk about hanging out with him. I talked to my friend and I'm choosing not to hangout with him any longer. I can't loose my boyfriend. He's everything to me. He's so convinced I have cheated on him and I don't know what to do. Is our relationship doomed? I'm determined to change but I'm afraid it's useless.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (5 March 2007):

I've been in his shoes before, and trust me.....it sucks. Think of how mad you'd be to think that he's hanging out with some girl you dont know at college, and you have no idea what they're doing........it'll eat at you

If you want to be with your boyfriend, you should stop hanging out with other guys. What sort of impression is he supposed to get from this

If you've lied to him before, he shouldn't continue to trust you fully. Why should he?

Put yourself in his shoes. How would you feel if his close friend in college is a female? Would you suspect anything going on?

If you lied to him before, what makes you think you won't lie to him again?
