 I would also recommend you continue to communicate via the internet, texting and phone.
If he does come back for second term, you may not feel the same way by then, but you'll be better able to ensure you are not starting all over again (overcoming shyness to communicate) with continued contact.
If he isn’t coming back and you are determined to "get over him", the best way to do that is to "fake it until you make it."
Simply pretend that you are over him and do the things that you would do if you were; see other guys, hang out with friends, get involved in hobbies or school teams. Each day you do this, it will get easier until finally... POOF! you really ARE over him.
