I have a twin brother. Although we are not identical, people have a lot of trouble tellng the difference between us. We were both same height, look the smae, have the same build and weight the same.

We went to different universities. During my freshman year I gained a lot more than the freshman 15...in fact it was more like the freshman 25. Then at xmas I probably gained another 10lbs. Since then my weight has continued to creep higher and higher. I have tried to maintain a healthy diet by getting lots of exercise etc. I have seen a doctor and he has basically said that I am just unlucky...

Most peoples metabolism starts to slow at about 30 yrs old. Mine kinda stopped at 18. Not just that, but my twin bro is still stick thin. He can eat what he wants and stay skinny. Meanwhile I seem to be fattening up non stop.

Its now got to the point that people dont believe we are twins. Im probably about 50lbs+ heavier than him. He teases me loads (which I actually quite like).

I was just wondering if anyone else has gone through a similar thing?

Try eating small portions of healthy food every 3 to 4 hours, or about 5 times a day, and drinking green tea twice a day, taking apple cider vinegar pills or liquid with 2 of your meals. Have a cheat meal(not big in size), once every 2 or 3 days until you start to notice a drop in weight. Don't have a cheat day though, where you cheat or binge all day once a week, like works for some people. Avoid any other liquids besides water and green tea(unless you drink the liquid apple cider vinegar). Change up your workouts everytime, and only do resistance training every second day, not everyday. Sleep eight hours a day, at least, and don't stay up too late. If you follow all these steps, along with 20 minutes intense cardio, avg, or 30 minutes walking type easy cardio, and you don't notice a positive weight loss, it might be a medical condition, as Celia stated.

Another tip to remember is to feed your body fat to lose fat. Avoid the bad fats, but continue to consume healthy fats. If you completely try to starve your body of fat, which it needs for energy, it will store up, and the same for cholestoral, to a small extent. Get some lean meat, fruit and vegetables, some form of protein and calcium everyday, and avoid breads and excessive amounts of salt.

If all this doesn't work, consult a different doctor than the one you saw before. It's good to get tested for abnormal thyroid and other possible problems, just to be sure. Good luck.

Tisha-1 agony auntI know a set of fraternal twins who look a bit alike, they looked a lot alike when they were little, but now one is 4" taller and weighs about 40 lbs more. They are both healthy young men, in good physical shape. They just are maturing at different rates to their final, adult, bodies.

Fraternal twins share the same womb with a genetically different sibling. It's normal for them to be different in appearance.

If you are fattening up nonstop despite a healthy diet and exercise, you need to see a physician for a physical. You may have something causing this.

Good luck!

Hey

Thanks for your reply. Honestly, I guess I have been eating more, and also what I have been eating isnt too healthy. But my doctor based it on tests and an honest diary of my diet. He did say that my metabolism has kinda stopped whereas my twin bro's has carried on. I.e. I am the fat twin but my bro is the thin twin. Its kinda weird at family reunions where pple used to get confused between us. Now they cant believe how fat I am....
