 If he says he doesn't know where he got it from, he probably doesn't.
Sadly, you sound like you don't trust him which means that your relationship isn't going to go very far.
Trust is one of the most important things in a relationship, and if you don't trust him that it's a bruise, then maybe you should let him find another partner who will trust him..?

 Why are you doing strip searches on your boyfriend? Why would you think he could possibly have a hickey on his hip? Why can I only remember having a great times with a boyfriend at 16 that never involved seeing his naked hip? Youth is wasted on the young...just watched that movie, loved as much as the first time I saw it, SOME THINGS never get old.

 Unless he's given you previous signs of cheating, I don't understand why you doubt him.
My skin in certain areas reacts really bad when hit, it gets dark purple-ish and it looks like a hickey.
If you still have doubts, you can ask him to give you details of the way he hit it.
