A female Canada age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I know this guy through ONLY text and online, but he is a mutual friend.. I here that he is a really great guy and he's super funny, good looking and so nice! I text him a lot and he actually recently just got dumped by his girlfriend.. He seems pretty flirty with me and I'm not sure if he likes me or even if i like him, i just think that there is potential.. Anyways, I want to get to know him and possibly hang out. What should I do or say to him to let him know i'm interested? Should i just flat out say it or wait untill he mentions something?

A male reader, The Realist Canada +, writes (5 January 2010):

The Realist agony auntIf you can, get a group of friends together (and this boy) for some sort of social activity. This way you can spend time with him getting to know if he's interested in you without the preasure of dating so soon. Flirt when your out with him and if he seems interested and you two have enough in common, which I'm sure isn't a problem then ask him on an actually date and see where it goes from there. One last thing is make sure its not too soon after the break up so you avoid being the rebound girl.
