You already have lost him. He's still in love with his ex and says that you are effectively the same as her. Until he faces his own problems and moves on from her, he will be useless as a boyfriend to you, and it's actually unfair of him to have you around him knowing that he won't do anything with you. He's basically keeping you around just to use you at his convenience, to take his anger and revenge on you. The best thing you can do is leave him and focus on your own life.
