A female age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I’m confused at the moment. I used to date this guy for nine months and he used to mess me about. Anyway, I moved on with my life and he contacted me seven months later. He explained to me he was sorry, he’d been a jerk etc. He wanted us to be friends, which was fine. We were going to meet up but he let me down, he couldn’t meet me because he had financial problems so I just got on with my life. Ten months later, he has contacted me again! He didn’t say much in the email but asked me how I am. I’m confused I don’t know what to do. I don’t know his intentions, if he’s being genuine, or if I’m just wasting my time.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (13 December 2006):

He's just trying it on, probably because no one else is interested. If he was really keen on you, your phone would be ringing all the time not every seven to ten months. You say he has financial problems, I'd steer well clear and find a guy who's predictable and solvent.
