Hi Everyone,

I just want to know what other people would do in this situation.

I got out of a 2 1/2 year relationship 7 months ago and it ended badly i was heart broken. I got really really hurt but there's a guy who i went to high school with we werent really close but always knew each other. we had hung out a few times and three months ago he asked me out (it happened really fast but something about it felt good and right so i said yes) at the time i kind of had the idea of a summer fling and "not serious" in my head but now its starting to seem like he wants something more serious. He might be going to work out of town soon and i might move away for work in the new year. Everything about the relationship is PERFECT like i found myself a wonderful man for sure but the timing just isnt right for something long term ..should i let it play out till i move or he leaves? or should i end it now knowing it wont be anything long term. What would you do? The reason i am thinking about this is because he wants me to go away with him for a weekend and meet his entire family as his date for an event.

Thx!

Since you are decided to keeping this a short-term relationship, you should let him know this so he can decide whether he stays or not. It won't be nice of you letting him go on over this without warning.

Why is it not right for long term? What would make the timing right? Didn't you think about these things before you started dating the new guy?

I think overall you are being pessimistic and putting your fears before your happiness. It doesn't make sense to me if you say the relationship is perfect but you expected a summer fling...Are you looking for a way out of this or something? I wont agree with backing down from such an amazing thing to happen in your life... just my opinion though.

BondGirl72 agony auntI think you should tell him as soon as possible. You have already lead him on. "Going out" with someone implies you are going out on a date, and dating implies (usually) that someone is looking for a relationship. If you didn't want a serious relationship, you should have been upfront about.

I am also confused when you say that you have found yourself the perfect man, but the conditions just aren't right. Right for what?

Tell him you are not interested because by now, he could be involving you in his hopes and dreams and that is not fair to him if all along you have not wanted him.
