Mea culpa. I read 'plain pizza' as 'pizza pizza' and naturally I was puzzled. Sorry about that.
Among friends 'boring' can also be used jokingly to describe someone who is responsible.
Not having much background, how he says it, how often and how you get on with him otherwise, it's hard to say. 'Weird chemistry' doesn't really tell us anything.
Next time he says it, why not just ask what he means by it?
Hold off on nurturing any romantic feelinsg until you can size him and his intentions up with that answer.

It does sound quite rude but maybe he thinks he's being funny - I think you should ask him what he means by saying that. If the answer is hurtful just walk away and forget him - you definitly deserve someone better and be assured there is someone out there who'll think you're lovely.

I've never once in my life suggested that a girl I fancied was boring, because the reason I've fancied them is that they're not boring at all. If he's suggesting your boring, let him go. You deserve better .

Without having any context in which to place 'pizza pizza' I can't give you any insight, I'm afraid. It sounds like a friendly joke, but where you get 'boring' from I don't know.
Ask him what he means by the joke, without asking his feelings. It's far too soon for that.
