writes:Im 15 and i like this boy who is pretty shy. We talk in class sometimes and if im at his house (im friends with his younger sister) then we talk then too.I think he might be into me because when im at his house he'll come out to where i am and watch tv with us or be in my general area. How can i find out if he likes me and how can i get to know him better (like i said hes pretty shy)?

reader, anonymous, writes (4 December 2007): Be gentle towards him - I know a guy a bit like this (though admittedly I'm not the one who fancies him)though he has got a lot more confident lately.
Why don't you try to build his confidence for him by always stopping to talk to him, complimenting him on stuff (like if he's an artist ask to look at some of his work and compliment him on it) without getting too flirty as this might scare him away. Don't try to get him to ask you out straight away - become really good friends first.
Well getting to know him is easy to solve - to get to know someone all you have to do is spend time with them. The more time you spend with them, the quicker you'll get to know them! Ask him to go to the cinema with you and friends, or just hang around with him at school.

 Shy people are the toughest ones to get through. Little by little he is showing you that he wants to make contact but he is shy, like you have mentioned. Approach him in a calm matter. Make little talk such as " What are you doing?" " Can i join?".. Little things like that. Get to know him better. See what his likes are. Dont rush into getting to know him because you must have a lot of patience when it comes to shy people. Good luck!
