Have liver damage, Is it my Contraception choice??

Erm...I'm 17 and today I just go the contorseptive implant...only thing is I have liver damage and they Doc that gave me the implant asked me if I did I told her the truth and told her the details of my liver damage but she was ok of me to go ahead with the implant...its just I was reading my info on it and it says that people with liver diesase should not be given it and I'm really worried...Has she done rong by giving me it?? I would really apresheate a reply but I know it may not be possable coz U'd need good medical knowlage 2 answer this! =s

willywombat agony auntThis is quite a difficult question to answer without more information.

I think that the type of *liver damage* you have is obviously not concerning your Gp. If it did and she knew about it she would not have put you on an unsuitable medication, because you could sue her for a start if things went wrong and she knowingly made this error!! You do not have liver disease from the sound of it - but liver damage, now this may not necassarily have been caused by disease, it could have been caused by any number of other things. The liver has great power to heal itself and obviously your GP is not concerned by this damage and your contraceptive causing problems for you. If you are still concerned go back to see your health care provider asap andd have your mind put at rest. They can talk you through your fears and help, after all they are the experts!

You need a second opinion in this case. You should not risk your liver any further damage.
