Hairy arms making me self-conscious! What do I do?

A age , anonymous writes:

I have really hairy arms. A boy in my Spanish class even commented on it. I have light blonde hair so my arms hairs arent dark or anything, thers just a lot of them. this makes me really self conscious and i find myself hiding my arms under the table a lot. I feel like there must be a way of maybe thinning them out or something?

i dont want to remove all the hair or it will be too obvious and may spark controversy. Please help!

eyeswideopen agony auntAlthough I definitely don't recommend this but just this past weekend I lit the gas grill and singed the hair off of both my arms. Didn't get burned but man oh man what a stink! You might check out a beauty parlor, they might have some kind of singeing thingy cause it sure worked well for me! I'm definitely off grill duty for awhile however.

Hey The only reason I'm replying is because of your last line about sparking controversy.. It is very normal to get a wax as a woman and there's nothing to be ashamed about it.. Infact, once you start in a few years you'll be bragging about your smooth arms right after you get it done to the whole world.. Nothing wrong with waxing or it being obvious, it's a part of a woman's life and it's better to get used to it sooner than later :) So my suggestion is get rid of the hair and get used it :)

Hey!

You can always wax or shave your arms, or do what I do! Get a cheap electric shaver and use that to trim down your hairs. Or shave and then use a hair minimising lotion every day!

Hope this helps! :-D

Danielepew agony auntI wonder what your age is, or what "really hairy" means in this context. I assume you're young. When we're young, we tend to magnify what others perceive as a physical defect (when we're older, we do that, too).

So, first, I would suggest you to accept yourself like you are. Second, if there really is a problem, nowadays they have these laser procedures to remove body hair. Some women go for this solution in order not to have to shave their legs forever. I will do it, myself, when I grow hair in my ears (fortunately, that hasn't happened, yet). Laser procedures are permanent, however, so you might want to wait a few years before you make a decision that will last your lifetime.

Hi, I'm not sure if it works but Johnsons do a "hair minimising lotion" which sounds perfect for you. I'm not sure if this is for legs after shaving though, but its worth a try! I'm sure I have seen it in pound shops too, so it wont be too expensive. If this fails, cover up your arms in school by wearing a cardigan etc. Hope this helps x
