 Women can spot throughout the month if it is normal for them during their cycle. Many women spot during ovulation, which is two weeks before your period. It's not uncommon to spot brownish or bright red spots, even if you are pregnant, but if it is is a large amount, that could be a warning sign of a possible miscarriage.
I suggest that you ask your doctor to do a test and find out if she is pregnant, and then ask your Doctor about the spotting. This is just a sight with regular people, and all women are different, so please see a professional Doctor.
