Don't want to come on too strong but I want to take our friendship further.

A female United Kingdom age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I really like a friend of mine but can not figure out why he won't make a move. I'm single, he's single, we've been talking online and texting for months but I can't figure out where I stand with him. I usually communicate 1st but he always responds AND QUICKLY. We have a lot in common and I would think by now he knows I'm interested. He seems to enjoy having me around, has made a point several times of telling me how welcome I am to visit, hang out, etc., yet he never seems to reach out to me romantically. If he wasn't interested why does he respond so quickly, use lots of smiley faces, seem so welcoming, etc? I don't want to come on too strong but I'm getting tired of making all the effort. I would especially like some guy's opinions on where females stand when it comes to situations like this. If he's not interested I want to move on, but I really think we could be a great couple.
