He did put a ' x' at the end, and after a couple of texts didnt reply (i wasnt asking a question so i guess its valid for him not to text back...)

 Yeah, a text with a 'x' could literally just be a friendly way of ending a text, many of my boy mates do it.
But some don't because they might not want me to get the wrong idea.
This isn't really much help, sorry.. =(
