Do guys not like me because I'm not stick thin?

A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

hey, i'm confused about myself right now! I'm a freshman in high school, and i'm 5'6" weighing 160 pounds. i'm not obese, but im not stick thin and i would say that muscles make up most of my body. The thing is, i cant seem to get a boyfriend just by face to face interaction. I'll usually get one after talking on Facebook, and I think that's weak. It seems like they have to see that I'm nice inside, then they ask me out. I think there's something wrong with me that guys just don't like. Is it the fact that I'm not skinny? I am pretty and I've been told that a lot but I feel like my figure ruins it! Ugh! What's going on?

don't be worried about that. I'm a sophomore and I'm 'thin as a stick' and I have never had a bf.. but it doesn't bother me.. I have many guy best friends, and I don't feel thaj its important now... some girls are so focused on boys and getting a guy that they missout on their teen years.. please dont worry about it and just enjoy being a teenager

SillyB agony auntWell men are attracted to healthy and confident girls. STay fit and within a healthy weight. Nothing is sexier than a fit girl with some curves.

A reader, anonymous, writes (26 September 2010):

Your height and weight is perfectly healthy! I think it's great that guys date you after getting to know you; those are the kind of guys who are worth your time. Do you really want to date someone who is so superficial as to require you to look like a supermodel for him to be interested?

Connecting on a deeper level (like the guy discovering what's on the inside!) forms a much better basis for a relationship than a purely physical attraction.

Plus, you're only a freshman in high school. Once you get older and boys get less immature, things will get easier for you!
