A female Mexico age 51-59, anonymous writes:

I think I said someting stupid, do I still have a chance?

I met this guy online and we started mailing, texting and eventually talked on the phone, he already asked me out on a date.

Everyting was going great we exchanged pictures.

He sent me a text saying I was pretty and that I have a very nice smile.

I sent him a text saying if nothing else I wish we can be friends, after that he did not reply.

I sent him a text the next morning wishing him a nice day and he did reply, but he never sent another all day.

This morning I sent him one wishing him a good day.

My question is, did I say something wrong by saying I wish we can be friends when we have not even gone out on a date yet?

I really liked him I just want to know if I said something stupid that will make him change his mind about going out?

We said we would talk on the phone on Wednesday, we'll see.

I know he is a very busy man, maybe that is it?, I have not been on a date in a long time, and want to keep my feet on the ground.

A male reader, fordyboy United Kingdom +, writes (29 September 2010):

fordyboy agony aunti dont think you said anything wrong, infact i think that being friends and getting to know each other first as friends is a good step. Sadly there are people out there who dont wanna be friends, especially people who meet online, they are looking for sex nothing else. they wheel you in, get your details, befriend you and then get you into having sex through charm and things. You sadly fell for this, but you gave him an answer he didn't wanna hear, and slowly you'll hear less and less from him. Move on and find yourself a decent loving man who you can get to know first. where do you find this guy:- easy join clubs, groups charities etc where you can get out and meet people, make you friends and find your man. Then ypou can have a relationship you deserve. Good luck to you!!
