A female United Kingdom age 30-35, *Jade writes:

I use the depo injectiong as my form of birth control and usually after having the injection for a few day i got a sort of yeast infection [Thick white discharge around the clitoris but not itching] It usually lasted a few days then left.

But for the past few months its been a constant problem, not only do i get discharge but im getting cuts on and around my clitoris which is quite painful If i take treatments such as fluconazole canesten ect it clears up for a week but returns again.

I've not had sex since janurary since my partner is away for study at the moment and he's my only sexual partner [We're both each others first, so i doubt we gave each other any sti/std]

He will be returning at the end of this month and I'm worried out time together will be ruined because of my thick discharge/cuts

If i visit my docter she just tells me to buy Thrush pill's and creams, which yes it does work for a week, but its not lasting, and its becoming far too expencive to keep buying treatments.

Is there any help/advice aynone could give to stop or prevent this

Thanks.

go to your doctor and ask about a prescription called "Relaguard" this is a type of cream that keeps the ph acidic balance correct within the vagina. You will have to clear the yeast infection up... so ask her for "nystatin" which is a topical for the outside area.. more along the steroid side... and this will help with the cuts.. (which is most usually caused by the over growth of yeast) and yes sometimes itching.

now after you visit the doctor go and get the 7 day treatment... i recommend this because you are on that shot and the situation will continue so you want to clear it up and then start using the relaguard towards the end of treatment for the yeast...

since you have been taken the depo your body is reacting to it... this is normal ... for some and not for others..

kinda like when you take antibiotics they throw all balance of your vajay jay out the dam window.. and thanks to my perm meds for my kidneys I have to use this myself... (ps... my bf loves it though) keeps things flowing...lol

so head to the docs and write this information down so you do not forget when you get there. Also you can use this cream for as long as your on the shot. Its not like an anitbiotic so you take it as long as your on the shot and all should be well..

as for things being all cleared up... if you get on it, Im pretty sure things will not be all funky by the end of the month.. also if you want to email me later in private about this type of matter thats fine.

good luck

If you are scratching your vaginal area due to the intense itching, you probably cut yourself with your nails.it doesnt matter how small your nails are, the vaginal are is quite sensitive as you know, and scratching leaves tiny cuts in the areas you rub or scratch.I would try to avoid scratching and see your doctor.Whe I was 18 I had a bad yeast infection and I scratched so much my vagina swelled up.be careful.
