A male reader, Uncle Trev United Kingdom +, writes (17 September 2007):

The way you could look at this is I suppose that there is a chance that you could become pregnant, of course there is.

Through any unprotected intercourse there is a chance of pregnancy. During ejaculation there are usually millions of sperm that get passed from the penis into you. Just one of those millions needs to make the journey to kick off the whole process.

One of the best ways I find to explain probable chances of pregnancy is this way.

Try this scenario and comparison.

Getting pregnant is a bit like buying a lottery ticket.

If I buy one here in the UK there is a 1 in 14 million chance of me scooping the millions. If I buy a thousand tickets those odds go down to to 1 in 14 thousand, a purchase of 1 million tickets I have a 1 in 14 chance and if I buy all 14 million combinations of numbers then I can absolutely guarantee a big win. The only way I can absolutely guarantee that I will NOT win the lottery is NOT to buy a ticket in the first place.

In doing what you have done you have probably brought a couple of thousand tickets as opposed to him ejaculating which would be the equivilent of you buyingf a couple of million.

You see both scenarios give you a chance of being a lottery winner (Becoming pregnant) but the more tickets you buy (Larger amounts of sperm enter) the better chance you have of the jackpot (Becomming pregnant)

As for how fertile you are in yourself - well that is the equivilent of just being able to predict if the numbers are going to be low or high correctly therefore improving your chances when you make your number guesses.

It is highly unlikely that you are pregnant but like the person who buys their very first lottery ticket there is always that miniscule chance that it is going to be first time lucky.

Obviously at your age I sincerely hope that you are not and also hope that if you are going to practice sex whilst under the age of consent that you do it responsibly and safely.

I hope this has helped paint the picture a little bit so to say.

A female reader, 88jane United Kingdom +, writes (16 September 2007):

88jane agony auntyes you absolutely can get pregnant even if he didnt ejaculate! guys have a pre-cum which is secreted before they ejaculate and this does contain sperm-it only takes one little sperm to make its way through and you would be pregnant!!

it was very irresponsible for you to have sex without using protection and i think the reason you were irresponsible is because you are so young! you are not old enough to be having sex yet--the legal age in the UK is 16! this situation indicates to me that you are not mature enough to be having sex yet!

i suggest you seek advice from your gp about the possibilty of pregnancy. then i suggest you talk to a family planning service about contraception.

please be more careful in the future--remember condoms protect against pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections!!

A female reader, anonymous, writes (16 September 2007):

If you have unprotected sex then even if you stop before you think he cums then there is still a chance you could be pregnant. Your mate is right. The tiniest little bit of sperm could get you pregnant.

I would suggest going to see your school nurse (either with your friend or go alone) and see what he/she has to say. Don't be embarrassed, although I admit it can be, because they have seen/heard it all before. He/she can suggest what you should do and make an appointment with a clinic near to you - neither of your parents need to know.

You need to get this nipped in the bud and sorted out now before it's too late... Having a baby at your age will change your life forever.
