Don't worry about feeling confused about this, I assure you all of your friends are just as new to all this "sex" stuff as you are. People your age like to act like they know more stuff than they actually do but really they are just as clueless as each other.

Actually, they probably think they know everything about sex, but trust me, they don't, no matter how confident they all seem! :)

bonym agony auntBut, yes are Dr Psych says they are in effect the same thing, its just that some may say that they have not experienced an orgasm even though they have climaxed. The terminology is confusing, very!!! And it doesnt help that people have different opinions of what an orgasm is, but as Dr Psych says and what I should have said in a simpler answer is that they are the same, but remember people's perceptions of orgasms change. xXx

DrPsych agony auntYes they are the same thing. You are not stupid as sex terminology can very complicated! An orgasm is the muscle contractions of the genitals associated with sex or masturbation. If you want to know more about this then there are lots of teen sexual health websites out there to give you the full details. As for your sleepover...don't worry about what your friends are saying they are doing as lots of people exaggerate about what they are getting up to at 15 to keep up with the group.

bonym agony auntMy dear you are not stupid at all but if you have to ask these questions then am I right in assuming you have not experienced an orgasm? I am no expert in these matters, I was a late developer myself, but I do an awful lot of reading!!! Quite simply this is what an orgasm is : the moment of most intense pleasure in sexual intercourse. When you climax it means when you "cum" i.e the stuff your body makes when you are sexually excited. You can orgasm during a climax, i.e you experience intense, mind blowing pleasure but not everyone orgasms, but they will reach a climax. Think of the word climax, its not just used in sexual activity, a climax signifies the heightened point of an event, so the climax is when you get to the point where you have had so much sexual stimulation that you need to stop so to speak before you go on. Does that make sense? I hope so. xXx
