Car problems may cause marriage problems, can you help?

A female United Kingdom age , *arking writes:

My car has broken down. Correction, our only car has broken down. I don't have the money to put it in the garage to have it fixed. My husband has changed engines before, renewed the gearing mechanism, etc.

This time, he has charged the battery (run down by the RAC man) and cleaned the spark plugs, and says he doesn't know what else to do. I have worked out that it is the throttle body which needs to be replaced, and he agrees. It's well within his abilities.

I need the car for my work - basically, if it's not fixed, I can't work. I've hired a car so I can work this week, it was supposed to be as well, so he could go get the parts he needs.

I don't understand this at all, if I can't work, I can't give him the £125-00 a week, which he needs towards the bills, and my business will go tits up in short order.

He is out at the pub, in the hire car at the moment. any ideas?

I think the more important question, is if he is drinking and driving will you be reporting him to the Police?

As you have worked out the problem, you must know your way around the engine? Can you guess what I'm suggesting?

Well you say you have the car for this next week, and that he hasn't got the part yet. Well it is 11.30 on a Sunday night, I don't know of many shops that would be able to get him a throttle at this hour.

However, it is very insensitive for him to bugger off and get drunk in a hire car when he knows you are so worried about it.

I would put the chain / bolt on the door and go to bed.

Tell him he can sleep in his bed when your car is fixed.

Good Luck!! xx
