I have definitely heard the saying 'You don't date you best friend's ex' but I really don't know if I should stand by it. The thing is, a few weeks ago I broke up with my '3 months' boyfriend and he seems to have got over it by now. I know for a fact that he still likes me though, because he told me himself. But now, my ex's best friend has told me he likes me and I really like him too. My ex doesn't know yet but I really, really like this other guy (his best friend). Can I do anything or will I be called a slut or be known as horrible? Will my ex absolutely hate me?

A male reader, Campbell United Kingdom +, writes (17 November 2008):

Campbell agony auntFirst of, are you sure your over your ex and are you sure you like this new dude. You dont wanna make the situation awkward, maybe ask this new guy on a date but keep it on the DL? You'll never know anyones reaction until it happens but guys can be really jealous even after the relationship is over so try not hurt him too bad. You could even talk to him about it if you trust him, just dont mention names incase he ain't too please. Hope this helped :)
