rcn agony auntOK, this is quite a question. I know you've heard of kitty litter. If you don't buy the real good stuff it's almost like powder. That's how the name clitty litter came about. When a man has sex, if he doesn't immediately clean himself off, or shower before putting his underwear on, the womans liquid substance that is on his sexual organ gets rubbed off into his underwear. When it dries, it turns into a white colored powdered substance (i would guess not for snorting). All though it's attached to his underwear if you turn them inside out, and give a flick, it comes off as kind of a foggy powder.

If it was from his masterbation, that just attaches and doesn't flake off.

Sandman agony auntAgain, semen can be emitted if the male has been extremely excited about something - winning the lottery or seeing a very beautiful naked woman. Although rare, it CAN happen. Not sure this is the case of your man though.

Masturbation at work with nowhere to "unleash" could result in semen being released in the underwear. No witnesses, no fuss.

Here's the bottom line. If you suspect your guy of cheating, ask him. If he says no, then do you have reason to believe otherwise? If not, let it go. If so, continue to inquire and find the answers to your questions.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input.

Yes I am talking about the "yellowish" stains i the "front" part of undies, and no I don't make it a point of investigating, although, as I do the washing too I have noticed, NO staining, then heaps of staining over a number of days, then nothing, and so on. I thought it could be semen and didn't understand the signifigance. I realise that it would not be evidence of cheating although some have said it was a sign. However it must be then that he spent a number of days masturbating alone perhaps at work unless semen can come out all by itself without masturbation??? Is this something common then amongst males?

Of course, there's the one thing that no-one has mentioned yet - masturbation. On account of the fairly long length of tubing between the balls and the end of the penis, after ejaculating a man will continue to drip for a little while. Who's to say he's not doing it himself - you don't necessarily need a partner to get stained underwear!

A female reader, anonymous, writes (20 September 2007):

I found a white stain on my husbands navy blue boxer shorts whilst he was wearing them, we hadn't done anything all week so I knew it hadn't been from any activity in our bedroom. When I asked him about this he went all strange would not let me take a closer look and laid on his front to watch TV, I honestly at that point did not really think much about it. When I came to do the washing guess what I found in the wash basket, yes the blue boxers, which were damp as if an attempt to wash them had been made, this made me very suspicious, my husband does not do the washing, so I am sorry to admit that I smelt them and yes there was no mistaking the smell of semen. To say I was angry, confused, and every other emotion you can think of would be an understatement, we had a massive argument, with him telling me nothing, no explanation at all. I obviously jumped to the conclusion he was having an affair, to cut a long story short after some investigations on my part, I discovered he was watching porn and masturbatiing to that, so not an actual affair but a virtual one, still hurts a lot though, which I am trying to work thru.

My mother used to tell me she checked my father's undies when she knew he was cheating. Apparently is a little stain of semen what gives them away. If the man is not cheating he should come home with dry/unstained underwear. As simple as that. I believe there's no science to it.

On Cloud9 agony auntnot to trivialise your concern but I agree with penta. I don't want to mull over the range of stains possible in mens underwear for long, so I can simply put your mind at rest that this does not provide evidence to a person cheating.

I have know of situations were people talk about the smell of sex on a person as evidence they have been cheating but again its not a concept that I have ever given much thought to.

Back to you initial concern, you are not uneducated in this matter, just uninformed.

A male reader, Sandman United States +, writes (20 September 2007):

Sandman agony auntI'm not quite sure what stains you're talking about, but I think I may know what's being discussed.

I think the stains that you are referring to are the yellow stains that appear in white underwear of men from time to time. The yellow stains come from semen - after having dried in the underwear causes a discoloration of the underwear and creates a stain where the semen was.

I'm thinking that the stains MIGHT give someone the inclination that a man has been cheating because the only time semen would appear is during ejaculation. While this is true, it is not entirely appropriate to believe a man is cheating merely because he has stains in his underwear.

Many men still have nocturnal emissions even after puberty. This is ejaculation that occurs while sleep. If he is wearing said underwear while sleep, then the stain can be a result of the involuntary emission of semen.

The other possibility is extreme excitement that can cause a man to ejaculate. Seeing a naked woman can cause some men to lose their load in their pants (strip clubs, nudie bars, etc). Another reason is some non-sexual stimulus that got the man soooo excited that he ejaculated. It COULD happen.

So, if you're gonna accuse a man (or woman) of cheating, you better have better and more evidence of them cheating than stained underwear.

Hope this helps.
