This has nothing to do with relationships or anything like that... I just had a serious question. I got a ticket today for the first time. This was my first offence. The officer who gave me the ticket didn't tell me it was a warning or anything. He just made me sign a paper that said I agreed to show up at court. Can I be fined for my first offence?

MommyOfOne agony auntGoing against the officer in court is pointless. Its a loosing battle. Don't even bother with it.

huneygyrl agony auntWhat did you get a ticket for?

If you believe the officer is in the wrong for giving you the ticket, go to traffic court to fight it.

Some officers give you warnings and some don't. They don't have to give you a warning.

As far as getting fine, yes you do get fined for the traffic law you didn't obey unless, you prove to the court the officer is in the wrong.

MommyOfOne agony auntYes. What you got was a ticket. You can either pay it, or go to court and pay court costs and then either go to driving school and pay for that as well, or hope you get a nice judge who will give you community service. Like picking up trash on the road.

My boyfriend is a police officer, and he says just avoid all the hoopla and pay the ticket and be done with it. Either way, your gonna have to pay something. One way is cut and dry; no mess, the other is just a hassle.

PeterPan agony auntDepending on what state you live in, you can most likely take a driver's safety class that will either mitigate or eliminate your fine. There is a fee for the class, but it's always much less than the fine itself.
