Imagine if females were no longer needed by society for bearing children with preganacies. Imagine if the biggest problems & wars & poverties in out whole society were all blamed on the cooperation & nurturing aspects of the female gender. Imagine if the top few percent of the most attractive females became willing to screw almost any remotely-attractive guy out there on a daily basis (so men would be MUCH less interesed in any lesser-attractive women). Imagine if women became disproportionately worse-educated, more unhappy, more often violently injured/killed, much more often jailed, etc. And imagine if all this time, women were also being raised to believe that they had their lives much easier than men in practically every way, and all this was basically their fault.
Sound pretty horrible?

 Men and women are very different in many ways but certainly one is not "better" than the other. It's very sad that your mother is so bitter from her own experiences that she's passing her negative emotions on to you. The fantastic thing about men and women is that their very differences is what attracts us to one another!

reader, anonymous, writes (5 November 2007): Not a word of it is true. Men and women are equally good at most things. There are some areas that men prove to be stronger than women in, and vis versa. But you cannot say that women are better than men.

The only time this saying is true, is if you accept it to be true.
Yes - us females have come a long way since the 1900's. We can now change a tyre - earn more money, raise 4 kids on our own, work a full day and still be a good wife to our husbands, but that in NO way means that we are better than men.
You need to change your belief. Stop trying to prove your mom wrong. You don't need to prove anything to anybody but yourself. If you believe you are going to fail at something, then you will. However, the opposite is true as well - if you believe you can do something, then you can. Women are stronger than they were before, but most women still look for a guy who is stronger in personality. Much like a man likes to feel like a hero / savior / provider, us women like to feel protected and to be taken care of.
Come on... The only thing i can definitely tell you, is that women don't like guys who feel insecure.
So, get up, get out and start proving to yourself that men can do anything women can, and vice versa.
