A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hi right ok so girls and guys.

Girls if you asked a boy out for a meal would you be classing that as asking him on a date?

guys if a girl asked you out for a meal would YOU class that as a date?

a guy i was with told me a girl liked him she asked him out for a meal he accepted

i told him she asked him on a date he said no it's nothing like that we're just friends i said but she sees it as a date and he said well i don't

but i said that's not the point she's asked you out and you've now accepted therefore she thinks you like her back and he kept telling me it wasn't a date.

but come on now both?

surely if a girl likes a guy and asks him out for dinner and he accepts you think he likes you back right?

he never told this girl about me and he never told her that he only saw her as a friend.

please all post your answers i'd love to hear what you all have to say.

Thank you.

This is horrendous behaviour in my eyes! When you pointed out that she thought it was a date, he neither denied that or made any offer/ intent to clear this up with her! With this content to leading a girl on she could be left under the impression they were casually seeing each other/ dating for months if her invites continued!

He was clearly enjoying her interest and showed no concern or respect for you- or for her, if he was just leading her on!

You deserve far better! Glad to hear you escaped from all this!

If I asked a guy out on a date it would mean I liked him, and if he said yes I would assume he liked me too. If my boyfriend went for a meal with a girl he would be dumped, no questions asked! X
