Am I too old at 19 to still be living with my parents?

At 19 years old [a few months away from 20] am I right in thinking I'm far too old to still be living with my parents?

I'm going to community college, but can't drive and consequently don't have a job, so there's not much hope of moving anywhere until I can get that license. Which is also looking bleak, since I practiced for more than six months and failed my test almost right off the bat. So.. in addition to the first question, what can I do with the driving issue?

Im 25 and I still live at home. I have a car and my own job. I would love to move into my own place but the price of today's flats/houses to buy or even rent are extortionate, even if you are sharing with someone. My sister is 22 also at home. I wouldnt worry about it at all.

With the price of houseing these days... when they auction off rental apartments?

Nope.

A lot of people are because they;ve jacked the house prices higher then the buildings are worth.

No, your not too old at all, especially if you are going to college.

Listen, many students live with their parents until they graduate, sometimes that is up until the age of 25 years old. In my opinion that isn't too old, well, given the circumstances.

I mean if you are not going to college and have a job etc, 25 might be getting there.

A good rule of thumb is generally when you turn 21, to live on your own is a good experience.

I don't really think there is an age when you are too old until you hit 28-30 or something, or you are in a serious relationship with someone else.

19 is still fine. Only 1 year ago you were even LEGALLY allowed to move out. ;P

I would say no, you are not too old. The only thing I would want to do if I were older would be to make sure your parents really don't mind and that you are pushing your own load. What I mean is make sure you are living on your own under their roof and do your own laundry, dishes, waking up and whatnot. If I were you I would also try to find a way to make up for any costs they have due to you living in their house. You said you don't work, but maybe there are jobs you could do for them to make up for it all. I would feel bad living in their house without making a contribution. The fact that you are in school makes it a bit different. If you were in your mid twenties I would suggest you look for an alternative. However, you're working towards your independence through schooling and attempting to get your licence, so maybe they doon't mind assising you out a little. I know in my house my parents miss their kids and love having them at home. I'm only 18 going to be 19 soon, so it's a bit different for me. I live away from home during the school months but will return home for work in the summer. I suggest you work on passing your driving test by practicing alot and by possibly talking to a driving instructor to get some professional hints. I took forever to get my licence due to fears and an extreme need to practice. If you practice alot and believe you can do it you'll get better. Maybe if you focus on the skills you will be tested on it will help more. Good luck and I hope you make the choice you like best.

No, You are too old to be still living home with your parents...I would say that you continue to focus on your education and mean while try and get your liscence and also look for a job, get on feet and then if you decide to move out that is on you...Your family will continue to support you as long as you keep trying and not giving up on your wants and goals...

I'm 19, and know people in their early 20's who still live at home. Point is, if like me your looking at a education you got to stay at home, least till uni!
