 I think this is more to do with your bf than you.
You say that you haven't spoken to his friends or family as your relationship was a secret due to your family.
Was there a reason for this, could anyone from your family have warned him off and asked him to make out like it was because you didn't mean anything to him to make that as a good excuse so you would not try and contact him again?
If you have an address for him perhaps you could write to him and ask for some closure answers as you just want to draw a line under all of this and understanding what happened would help you to do that and so those problems don't continue on to other relationships, all you are asking for is answers here.

 I Was With my boyfriend for 2 years and he told me he didnt want to see me anymore and he didnt feel the way he once did. it took me about 8-9 months to get over him and that was when i found another lad that i liked. do you really want to see him again after what he said to you? and he must not care that much if he hasnt tried to get in contact with you so why should you be caring still..? i suggest you go find another man who will treat you better and not ever think about breaking your heart when you find him im pritty sure you will get over him.

you need to get yourself out there and show people your availible, you'll soon meet someone and when you do you wont worry about speaking to your ex anymore.
