I am slightly shy, I'm scared to ask her. Would it be wise to send her an email asking her because I don't have much time after the weekend to ask her? What should i say in the email? I don't want to appear cowardly byt sending an email.

If possible og for the face to face encounter. You ill be able to communicate better with your whole body language arsenal and general you should find it will improve yuor chances of getting a YES to the dance.Whatever you do decide to do - BE SINCERE! "Hey x! How are you? I was hoping if you'd like to come with me to the college dance? I thought about for a while and thoguht I'd have great time out with you. So what do you say?" (smile).Good luck!

You won't appear cowardly by sending an email, but its a lot better to do it face to face.
It will seem like you mean it a lot more, at least thats how i feel, and then you can really be open and honest with her.
plus it has the added benefit to you that you she just can't ignore your email, and has to give you an answer there and then.
best of luck!
