Will it be just as effective?

Question - (15 October 2009) 3 Answers - (Newest, 15 October 2009)
A female United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

This isnt actually a relationship question, but i cant seem to find any answers online about what to do if you miss the first pill in your birth control pack.I was late getting my new pack of birth control for the month.I was supposed to pick up the prescription on Sunday, but things got messed up because they didnt tell me I was out of refills. So my doctor called in a new prescription for this month that i just got yesterday (Tuesday). So they told me just to take 2 pills yesterday, and 2 today in order to catch me up on the ones i missed. And then one a day thereafter,as i normally would do.But does doing this mess up the effectiveness of the pill? Or will it be just as effective as it would have been if i wasnt late starting the pack?

Yes it would be less effective just use condoms when there is a mess up like that to be safe.

DoubleM agony auntNobody here could possibly know about your specific birth control strategies. Only your doctor could have any useful advice, which you have apparently sought and received. But generally, depending upon your cycle dates, sexual activities may be quite safe (unlikely to cause pregnancy) most of the time.
