A male Pakistan age 41-50, anonymous writes:

Since I was born , I have been on fighting on so many fronts. I was 14, when pimples started appearing on my scalp and they were gone when I reached 20 but at the cost of losing my hair. after five years, I lost my heart to a girl with whom I was in a relationship for next four years. She dumped two year ago saying that I was not stable career wise and would remain that way forever. I think she was realist , I was idealist as I am still struggling getting a decent job despite being well-educated. I have written many short stories and even memoir but not a single publisher seems to be ready giving it a damn. My parents curse me for not doing well in my practical life, My dumped me for the same reason which makes me believe that I am loser 1 and wondering why I was born? I hardly remember a single moment of happiness in my life. Why life is so cruel with me? I would appreciate if you people could put some light on my situation and suggest means and ways getting myself on stable track in my life. Please help me!

Regards,

Loser No 1

Oh dear, you are going through a bad time aren't you. But you are not a loser. We all have shit in our lives.

The truth is no-one can really change it expect you. Instead of listing all the bad stuff, how about listing all the good things you have? Come on there must be loads! (Even if they seem insignificant right now) Are you a good friend? Do you have a car? House? Are you a trustworthy friend? Loyal? Funny? Generous? Etc etc

If your relationships didn't work out, then it wasn't meant to be. Just dust yourself off an try again with someone new.

Perhaps you can try something new to lift your mood, excercise classes, dog walking, hobby, night class etc. Life is too short, don't waste it being negative :-)

A male reader, Arekkusu United States +, writes (16 July 2011):

Arekkusu agony auntDude, you're not a loser. You're not the only one that life is unfair to. You are your own beam of light in your life. You're the only one that can make YOU happy. It's all about attitude. Find some hobbies, not ones that you expect to take you somewhere in life. One's that you just enjoy to do because it makes you happy. You're losing on soo many fronts because you're allowing yourself to lose on all those fronts. The power lies in you and you only. Wondering why you were even born is not good for you self esteem. Maybe you should move away from everyone you know and start over. Doesnt seem like the people you're around are too fond in making feel good about yourself. You've got to trim the fat which is the negativity in your life. I know life has too many ways you could go. You've got to choose what you like/love to do. Then chase it.. Make a career out of it. Dont sit there and say you wrote short stories but no publisher will take it. If they're good and you know it, then that's all that matters. If the ones that you have showed arent taking it, then fuck them. They're the ones missing out. Find other people to read them. Dont ever give up. Every life matters and all the power lies within yourself.
