reader, anonymous, writes (28 March 2008): I'd agree with ask oldersister, I used to have this problem a long time ago and I do think it was to do with self confidence. I was a bit overweight and felt performance anxiety. I think it might also have something to do with dominance and power, when you are on top you are dominating whilst the person below is being submissive, going back to self-confidence he may feel inferior and not comfortable with sexually dominanting you. Maybe it is related to that? My problem went away with time, love and getting more comfortable and familar with the other person.

Maybe because when he is on top, he is self conscious about the way he performs, he doesn't have to worry about it when you are on top doing the work. You could try turning the lights off if you don't normally- this may alleviate some of his anxiety.
