Why does he wear sunglasses and say "I don't want you to see what is in my eyes?"

Question - (18 March 2009) 3 Answers - (Newest, 19 March 2009)
A female Canada age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I just recently met a man who had approached me innocently, and i embraced him as a friend. The sucky part is, initially i was ok with being his friend, but im slowly starting to develop feelings, the part that is even worse, is that he is in a relationship. Now he's been confiding in me and telling me how bad it is, and how he wants out, and how she doesn't treat him right etc..When we hang out, he always finds a way to touch me, or poke me, usually i know that is flirting, but i keep thinking it's just innocent and maybe he's like that with all his girls that are friends. The other day we were hanging out in my room, and he kept his sunglasses on, so i asked him why he puts them on indoors, ( i made fun of him more like it ) and he said "because i dont want you to see my eyes" ...and i just felt the tension in the air. So my question is, am i completely dellusional and if a guy says 'i dont want u to see my eyes' what could he be hiding behind them??? Do you think it's because he doesn't want me to see that he's vulnerable, or what? Im confused. Help!

It could be more metaphoric/poetic. I know a person who wears a symbol of an electric chair as a necklace. She eventually told me that it was meant to be poetic.

I also knew someone who wore darkened glasses indoors, but his reason was due to eye fatigue.

For your scenario, you should ask him what it means. He might take offense for whatever interpretations he may have of you asking, but he also might not.
