Well... when I first kissed my girlfriend (this year, I'm 20, too) I cupped my fingers under her chin and tilted it up.
For girls... if it's your first kiss, I'd simply stand there and enjoy it. If you have time, worry about hugging around the neck or anything else if you go in for a second kiss right after the first one ends. If you want to French, open your mouth. If not, keep it closed.
