 It depends where you're going. If it's something like dinner and a movie, I'd go for nice jeans (just a little tighter than you'd usually wear)and a formal top that's not too conservative. That'd be cute.
If you're going out for a drink or to a posh restaurant, go for a cute dress. The golden rule usually is: legs or boobs, show off one or the other, not both. You want to wear something that you're comfortable in, that's modest but also a little bit sexy (in a classy way, not a slutty way). If you're not comfortable with what you're wearing, it'll show and he might think you're uncomfortable with him and not your outfit.
Why not get some girlfriends over and go through your wardrobe to get some opinions on a few outfits you had in mind? Maybe even go shopping together so you're 100% confident you look good. Confidence is sexy.

 It depends on where you're going and the weather..A little cleavage is ok, too much makes you look cheap. Warm weather, men love sundresses paired with wedges it's dressy but cute and playful. Charlotte Russe, and check out the department stores usually have cute on this year and they'll be on sale! Cold weather, wear a pair of jeans that emphasize your rear I like skinnies or bootcut, pair of heels (unless your date is on the short side in that case flats) then a dressy top with a flattering open back. I have this one shirt that is open back that men go gaga over, it's very sexy to show off your back and keep your chest with a peek of cleavage. It leaves a lot up to the imagination which were trying to do here.
