A female reader, anonymous, writes (21 January 2006):

There are many signs to tell if someone is cheating. My first thought is that your gut instinct about it is usually right. It could go either way. Some men start buying you presents randomly out of guilt, but i think for the most part the affection level drops dramatically. you may notice that he smells like a different perfume, or when he comes home he might take showers right away before he comes near you. he might be out later than usual and make up stories about why. some guys who get called on their cell phones will answer, but talk softly so you cant hear and will make up who was on the phone when you ask. just watch how he acts around you, if he seems nervous or his personality starts changing dramatically, somethings up. i think since he's your husband im sure you know him enough to know when hes lying. follow your gut! thats all i can think of right now from experiences.
