 I guess she meant you looked attractive , but not particularly approachable or welcoming. Maybe in the pic you were not smiling, or you were scowling, or you had a sort of masculine stance. Something did not send out friendly vibes.

But did the girl know what she really meant when she said 'intimidating'?
I know a very fit girl who walks very purposefully. I call it her 'Don't mess with me walk'. She is into judo and loves doing that. But she is also the sweetest dearest mother of two you could imagine. But perhaps someone who did not know her and say her very briskly walking might think it intimdating. It's not, from her point of view. It is just her way of keeping up her cardio-vascular exercise. None of us can keep up with her. She's already having a coffee when we turn the corner into the home stretch.
There is nothing wrong with being tall, imposing and very fit. But some people who are none of these things can feel threatened and intimidated by someone who is.
Were you standing there looking very strong and fit?
In some way the pictures made her feel less. Body language can be intimdating, such as hands on hips, arms folded across the chest. A grim look on your face.
I would not get too bothered by it. She did say you looked cute. And Cute plus intimidating just does not ring true. Cute and attractive sounds more normal. Perhaps she meant interesting and just used the wrong word?
