A male reader, anonymous, writes (28 November 2012):

I am a male American and personally would love the stereotypical Irish woman: Redhead with blue eyes. Love them and love the freckles. Redheads and colored eyes. Just sounds like the perfect woman! Just have to make sure the personality fits. One day i'll find out.

MikeFlarity agony auntSeems like only women are answering this question. Ladies, this is how rumors start. If you really want to know what some men think of Irish women/girls then all you have to do is pay attention.

As a past and recent traveler to Ireland, let's get one thing straight. Irish women come in all colors of hair, it's not the hair nor the eyes.

It's the accent and their sense of humor.

SirenaBlusera agony auntOf course my family has been in USA for a thousand years (so we're US-ian) but I always thought it would be exciting to be Irish... so that's where the black hair comes from in our family... but what about black/dark brown eyes? Only one cousin of mine has blue eyes.

But I think I'd really like the culture, I hope I go to Ireland eventually.

KateMcL agony auntOkay Im Irish and firstly ONLY 10 per cent of Irish people are Redheads!..me being one of them!..but this whole "redhead, green eyes" etc is just the typical stereotype crap.

The majority of Irish people have black hair & blue eyes

SirenaBlusera agony auntI'm not a guy, but honestly I've liked everyone I've met from Ireland and I'm glad to have some friends from over there.

I don't know any women from Ireland but the guys I have met are nice and sweet. :-)

I've never been to Ireland, but someday I will go. I'm scared to go over there, because I'm afraid I'll fall in love with it and not wanna leave! (Happened to me in a couple of foreign countries), I have always been really interested in the culture, and really love it.

Not everyone from Ireland has red hair; that's a stereotype... I've met plenty of people from there who have really dark hair. I have Irish ancestors, and a whole bunch of people in my family have COAL BLACK (not brown--- black!) hair, and black eyes, which makes me think an ancestor was black Irish?

A female reader, anonymous, writes (21 March 2010):

Depends on the guy, some think they are absolutely sexy, others dont like the red hair. It depends on the person.
