Royofthe Rovers agony auntYour fear of flying can be approached in many ways. There ways in which you can learn to calm yourself down and control your breathing so that you dont become panicked at the moment of take-off and landing. You could also try hypnosis which may seem a drastic measure, can have an effect depending on the person that is being hypnotised.

I know certain air-lines do trips in planes that help people like you overcome their fear, tho the expense of this i am unsure.

I would of thought the easiest thing to do is to learn how to control your fear by relaxation techniques. these can be found in abundance in retail book/dvd shops.

As for ear-popping, that is only due to pressure changes in the cabin. Divers use a technique where they hold the nose and close the mouth and breath out, this forces the ears to pop. Thought this can be quite uncormfortable to do, another one is to simply swallow and keep swallowing, hence the use of sucking sweets on plane journeys. Rolling your neck is another technique.

Hope some of this helps....Goodluck..

howcomehoney agony auntWhen your ears start feeling funny, hold your nose and close your mouth and act as if you're trying to blow out hard without actually exhaling the air. Your ears will pop out just fine. Don't leave it too late otherwise it's harder to do. You could also try chewing gum.

Don't fret about flying. Be happy - it's beautiful up there, in an abstract kind of way. Nothing's going to happen to you. If you're really really terrified, take an anti-stress pill. You'll be fine, don't worry. Have a good trip!
