Maybe he just doesn't want a girlfriend. I think it's a personal decision and his choice should be respected. He has his reason & doesn't have to share. Not being "smart-aleck" just saying it's his choice & he enjoys doing his own thing.

N yes I like dis guy n he says he likes me 2 and we been out on dates, but he hasnt popped the question and i want to say b/c he's goin 2 college, but even b4 dat...i always thought it was fear of commitment or dat cuz all his past gf treated him bad, but i proved 2 him different, but idk. I guess I'm askin now is what makes a guy say I dont want a gf right now but he tells u he likes u a lot n wants 2 c wat happens in the future

Personally I think it stems from self-esteem issues and confidence. He may want to concentrate on college work or his work and feels that having a girlfriend may intrude in some way. He may have not met someone who really gets him.
Is this because you're interested in a particular guy?

reader, anonymous, writes (8 August 2009): Most guys dont want girlfriends because they want to play the field and get with as many girls as possible.They cant do this when they have a girlfriends and they dont want the responsibilty and baggage when it comes to relationships quite sad really.

 Many guys like to mess about with there mates and this could occasionaly end up with having sex with strangers... if they had a gf they couldnt do this.. they will get over it at some point..
