Whatever, and all joking aside, have your answer ready for when the time comes. On the other hand, why not propose to him if that's what you want?

I would say asking about your ring size or maybe one of your rings going missing so that he can find out without asking would be tell tale signs... to be honest men are not very good at being discrete so the hints might not be as suttle as that, he may ask you what you would say if he asked you to marry him?
