writes: Tomorrow will be the one year anniversary of when my boyfriend and I started dating. Both of us feel it's a day worth celebrating. However, we are in a distant relationship and he usually drives down and see me in the weekends only. We both think it kind of suck to celebrate an anniversary not on that exact date. I suppose he can drive down at night after work, but I feel bad for him to drive all the way down and drive back up on the same night (4 hrs of travel time). Anyone have any ideas how we should celebrate this? And what should I get him that'll be sweet, personal, and something he will keep forever?

reader, anonymous, writes (12 September 2006): i had the exact same problem, i lived in the south and my boyfriend lived in the north. only i was the one doing the travelling, every weekend on the train. beleive me, if he loves you, the journey only seems long because he can't wait to get to you. if he loves you, he'll gladly come down to see you, and by the sounds of it, he does. get something that reminds you of when and how you met, but make sure you say how much you want to sacrifice for him aswell and how you feel for him. your company and a night together should be enough. good luck, happy anniversary!

 i had a 1year anniversary on a friday recently my boyfriend was working i had a hospital appointment!
we dont live to far away but we decided 2 leave celebrations till the weekend we spent the whole weekend together having a meal etc spending time together
at 1 minute past midnight on thurs nite i sent him a lovely text saying how much he ment to me!
and he rang me at the same time neither of us knew the other was planning 2!
we had a wonderful anniversary!its not the exact date tat counts its your love!
i painted my boyfriend a picture which he loved!
sweet and personal always means so much more!
i honestly think dont get to hung up on the date and spend a lovely weekend spoiling each other!!
