 Was this kiss recent? It sounds to me like he's took cold feet and isn't ready to move on and be in a relationship. He's just not mature enough yet. I would take things very slowly with him and go back to just being friends again.
He's obviously confused and has got things on his mind just now. BE there for him as a friend and nothing more for now, he'll be back to normal before you know it. ;o)

 Well in my opinion you should ask him if he's ok and if you've done something to ofend him in any way. If he ignores you, confront him and tell him that you deserve some respect and that if anything is wrong with him you want to help because he means something to you....Maybe he's going through a difficult time and he doesn't want to speak to anyone, just let him know that you are there for him and when he feels comfortable to talk you'll be there.I hope for he's sake he hasn't gone through anything terrible and i hope things work out for you, who knows maybe one day you two will be dating :-).Best Wishes
