It wasn't enough for him to break it off with me; he humiliated me when I tried to be friendly.

I went out with a lad for about 5 months, everything was fine at first but then towards the end he started freaking out about the '6 months' thing.

I broke it off last November and heard nothing from him until today when I saw him in town and thought I'd say hi, but he just looked at me and said "Nothing's changed".

I felt so humiliated. Has anyone else gone through this experience before?

Rebecca Batchelor agony auntWhat is this 6 month thing? Is it the equivalent to the 7 year itch or something? Did he mean that once you reached 6 months of being together that things would then automatically go wrong? Perhaps he has had this experience before and was unwilling to give it a go with someone else.

It sounds as if when you talked to him he thought you were suggesting getting back together again.

Well, it is his loss. You broke it off with him and he obviously needs to sort himself out. Forget about him. Go out and enjoy yourself and realise that you have had a lucky escape.

Dont worry, just about everyone goes through this in life. Your ex needs to grow up a bit. Boys do take a bit longer, before they can cope with relationships.
