Two accidents with two different guys, will I have to wait for the baby to be born before I know who the father is?

A female United States age 36-40, *utterbaby69 writes:

I last saw my period on December 25 2007. On January 2nd, I slept with an old flame and the condom actually broke in our case. A couple of days later, I got back with my boyfriend and we slept together unprotected. I was due for my period on January 21st and on January 25th, I took a pregnancy test and it came back positive.

Do I have to wait until my child is born to see who the father is?

xxmissxx agony auntits very important you find out who the father is due to blood testing reasons if anything happned to your child blood related, theyd go to either you or father and if the one you choose isnt actually the father you'll create a huge mess within your child and their supposed fathers life!

You do not have to wait until the baby is born, but I would not jeopordize the health of your baby by undergoing risky tests.

FWIW - it is unlikely that the "old flame" is the father. If you started your period on 12-25, by 1-02 you would be in cycle day 9, which is not typically the time that most women ovulate. Most women ovulate between cycle day 12 and 16. With that said, sperm can (but doesn't usually) live up to five days in a woman's body.
