Thoughts on an Anxiety Hotline needed!

I have posted here about starting a hotline; being a panic attack advisor to help anyone suffering from anxiety. Anyone would be able to ring even if suffering a panic attack at the time (even if unable to talk) and they would receive support, reassurance and understanding. It would be a local rate call and I have mentioned that I have over 20 years experience.

My idea is to have this telephone at night from 10pm to 10am and I wondered what anyone thought. I would really appreciate any feedback.

Many thanks

Wendyg agony auntYes I believe this to be a good idea, but I do know that there are some hotlines already out there... No panic.org being one of them...which already has a night time crisis line... (runs 10pm-10am) and there are already hotlines for all different branches of anxiety, depression, etc... I think that what the main problem is that nobody knows about them so they dont know they exist, so some sort of useful advertising in relevant places would be needed. The reason I know they exist is my sisters husband has just been diagnosed as a manic depressive, amongst other things, but at 1am in the morning when she didnt know what was up with him or how to handle him when he had a complete breakout she didnt know who to call to best help her, and there must be many out there like this. Previously my dad had an anxiety disorder(OCD)(yes always with but you learn to cope with it) at the time of his worst illness though there was little or no support, so I agree to having a line to help people, but it doesnt just stop with panic attacks, as my dad didnt get those, but got everything else, people that have witnessed someone with severe OCD will know what I am talking about... and at 3am you really need someone to talk to and advise on how to handle the situation.. When you have a loved one screaming shouting, behaving oddly and so on, convinced that things have happend etc etc.. you dont know how to handle and how best to cope and what to do... So a line for people that live with people with mental illness would I think aid alot more people... But advertising needs to be done so that the people that need help can find it.
