A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I can't decide where to go for my first date with this guy. He said he wants to go somewhere nice and quiet. Lol, i feel a bit nervous because he said he wants to go to a quiet place. I'm also nervous because he wants to call me to discuss it. I haven't spoken to him on the phone yet. We have met in person before just once. I have some ideas on where to go, and i'd appreciate your advice on which one would be the best place to go. One place is a bar and restaurant ( it's a Wetherspoon's place. Anyone from the UK will probably know what that is. If you don't know, you could google it ). The bar and restaurant part are both downstairs, and there is an upstairs part where you can sit, which would be really private. he wants to meet on Thursday, but i'm not sure if they serve food in there on Thursday's, and i'm not sure if you can go upstairs then, as i only went upstairs once and that was on a Saturday. They don't play music in there at all.

Another place i thought of is a pub that's nearby. It's quite small and music is played in the background in there. Sometimes there is a band on in there on Thursdays too, but i'm not sure if there is next Thursday.

Does anyone have any other suggestions ?. And what do you think of the places i have mentioned ?. I don't want to go to nightclubs because obviously that would be really noisy.

Thursday night at Wotherspoons is curry night isn't it? Be a good place as theres no loud music but its busy usually

Don't go anywhere quiet where you will be alone with him, nor would I get in a car, meet outside the pub or wherever your going.

Its really his choice on where to take you, wait till he calls you and see if he can suggest anything else, no need to be nervous about a phone call as you have met him once, so just be normal.

If he asked you out it's up to him think of the place to go, that's the rule I always follow. I think you have some nice ideas there, you don't really need anything else from us OP, he's the one you should be bouncing these ideas off during the phone call. Until then there's nothing we can really suggest.

The only thing I will advise is unless you want to sleep with him on your first date, the quiet place should be a public place and not yours/his place if you know what I mean. Seriously if a one night stand is not what you want then keep it public.
